Deer Grove Forest Preserve

Sunday Jan. 3rd I will be hosting probably a hike at Deer Grove Forest  Preserve in Palatine.   If it snows by then I'll get additional options  out to you.

The hike will start at noon.  To get  their, google map the route if coming from far.  Otherwise, get to  Dundee road (68) and Quentin. At that intersection, head north on  Quentin and take a LEFT at the entrance to the Preserve.

When  you stop at the fork in the road, turn RIGHT and continue to the END of  that road. Do not pull into other parking lots along the way. The road  will dead end at our parking lot where we'll meet at the posted trail  map.

If you're interested, I encourage you to  download an app by Under Armor called Map my Walk.  No matter where you  are hiking if there is a trail, it should show on the app and as you  start your walk/hike, it will show you walking. If at Deer Grove you  wanted to get back to the car and not continue as far as the group, you  can easily see the trail that will lead you to our start. No more  getting lost even without the map.

I would also  encourage everyone to take a picture of the trail map at the start to  have that on your phone.  I always carry a printed map when I ski or  hike so have included the link below.  It shows the different "color"  paths and along with this app you'll know exactly where you are at all  times.  Also tells you at the end the time and distance you've walked  which I love.
